How to check if WAEC has/is ready to release 2025 WASSCE results
As the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has said, there is no scheduled date to release the 2025 WASSCE for school results. This blog post will show you how to check if WAEC has/is ready to release the examination results.
WAEC earlier slated the second week of December (December 15 and 19, 2025) to release the provisional WASSCE results of students who sat for the examination, but amid unforeseen circumstances, the results are yet to be out.
In a statement sighted by Pretertiary.com, the Council attributed the delay in the WASSCE results release to a breakdown of scanners essential for scanning the objective answer sheets of the examination for marking.
How to check if WAEC has/is ready to release WASSCE results
1. Visit the WASSCE result-checking portal
2. Click the Examination Year dropdown and check whether the year has been updated to the current (Eg 2025). If that is the case, then it means the WASSCE School results are ready to be released.
NB: Sometimes the not-for-profit organization might update the examination year to the current, but the results will not be available until it officially announces prospective students who sat for the WASSCE can check their results

The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, which commenced on Tuesday, 5th August 2025, with the Visual Art Project work and continued with the written papers on Monday, 18th August 2025, ended on Friday, 19th September 2025.
A total of 461,640 final-year Senior High School (SHS) students, made up of 207,381 males and 254,259 females drawn from 1,021 second-cycle schools, participated in the WASSCE for School.
This figure represents a 0.22% increase over the 2024 entry figure of 460,611. The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) was taken at 703 centres across the country.
In all, 65 subjects were taken by candidates, but each candidate took an average of eight subjects.
The Council, ahead of the conduct of the WASSCE for School held stakeholder engagements across the country with the view to appealing to all and sundry to join in the fight against examination malpractices.
In addition, examination candidates were sensitized on the rules governing the conduct of the examination and reminded of the repercussions of violating any of the provisions of the rules.
But despite WAEC’s effort, a number of cases of examination irregularity, including impersonation, were recorded in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School.
