How to ‘retrieve’ 2025 teacher promotion application ID & register

The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has urged eligible applicants who earlier applied for the 2025 teacher promotion application to resubmit their application at the promotion portal. In this blog post, we will show you how to retrieve the teacher promotion application ID and re-register.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has opened a promotions portal for teaching staff to apply for the ranks of Deputy Director, Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Principal Superintendent.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified serving teachers/officers for consideration for promotion to the rank of:
a. Deputy Director
b. Assistant Director I
c. Assistant Director II
d. Principal Superintendent
Qualification
a) Deputy Director: An applicant should have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Director I in or before 2021 and should have been continuously at post since that date (except for the periods of approved leave of absence).
b) Assistant Director I: An applicant should have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Director II in or before 2021 and should have been continuously at post since date (except for the periods of approved leave of absence).
c) Assistant Director II: An applicant should have been promoted to the rank of Principal Superintendent in or before 2021 and should have been continuously at post since that date (except for the periods of approved leave of absence).
d) Principal Superintendent: An applicant should have been promoted to the rank of Senior Superintendent I in or before 2021 and should have been continuously at post since that date (except for the periods of approved leave of absence). An applicant who has obtained an approved undergraduate degree will be automatically placed on this rank.
Officers/Teachers with Master’s/PHD Degrees
For the avoidance of doubt, applicants who wish to rely on Master’s/Doctorate degrees to join the interviews out of turn should note the following;
a) Master’s/PhD programme should be on the approved GES course of study.
b) The Master’s/PhD certificate should not have been obtained before the previous promotion. c) Applicants who wish to use the Master’s/PhD certificate for ADI, ADII, and Deputy Director promotion should have obtained their certificate in or before 2023.
Mode of Application
1. An applicant should complete the APPLICATION FORM online via https://bit.ly/GESPROMOTION25
2. An applicant should upload the following documents: passport-size photograph (in jpeg, jpg, or png format), last promotion, appointment, or upgrading letter, and the highest academic certificate used for applying for the promotion.
3. All documents uploaded MUST be in PDF (except the passport picture) and should be clear and legible.
4. Application window opens from Thursday, 11th September to Thursday, 2nd October, 2025. 5.
How to retrieve the teacher promotion application ID
1. Visit the teacher promotion portal
2. Click Menu at the top right corner
3. Click on Retrieve Code
4. Fill in your details and receive your Application ID via SMS
How to resubmit application for teacher promotion
1. Click on Start New Application to navigate to the next form
2. Click on the Application form to continue
3. Fill in your registration details by accurately providing all necessary details on the registration form
4. You may save and continue later using your Staff ID or Ghana Card number and your application code as your login credentials
5. After completion, review your application to make sure there are no errors, then click on Submit
6. Then download the final form and keep it at a secure place
