3 sets of twins compete for the championship title of 2025 NSMQ

After a record-breaking 174 second-cycle schools (Senior High Schools) were reported to be participating in this year’s National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), three sets of identical twins are now competing for the championship title.
The three sets and identical twins contesting in the 2025 NSMQ are from three different schools, namely Ofori Panin Senior High School, Aburi Girls Senior High School, and Wesley Girls’ High School.
Speaking to the media, the twins at the Ofori Panin Boys said, “We’ve been doing things together since we were little, so competing together in the NSMQ is just one of those things,” one of them said.
The National Science and Maths Quiz coordinator of Ofori Panin, Mr Donkor, commenting on the twins, said, “Instincts do come into play when they do things together; they know each other’s strengths, and it helps a lot.”
At Aburi Girls, the twins Judith Akua Sam Amoah and Juliet Akua Sam Amoah said, “We’re winning this year’s championship title because we’ve worked so hard and we believe God is on our side,” said the twins.
Their coordinator commended them for being unique and respectful, saying, “Some twins are difficult to handle, but these girls are just different; they’re ready to go with you anytime.”
The twins at Wesley Girls High School, Seyram Akot-Adzei and Selasi Akot-Adzei, on their part, said, “We work very well together, and being twins helps us a lot because we complement each other. Sometimes she starts an answer and I complete it.”
Included in the 174 record-making figure are 27 seeded Senior High Schools (SHSs) from the 2024 edition of the NSMQ, 106 regional qualifier winners, 32 top-runners-up, and nine private Senior High Schools.
