Azeko Salifu Tahiru replaces Haggar Hilda Ampadu as IGS of NaSIA

Professor Azeko Salifu Tahiru has been appointed the new Executive Director and Inspector-General of the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA) formerly the National Inspectorate Board (NIB).
The newly appointed Inspector-General of Schools replaces Dr. Haggar Hilda Ampadu, the former Executive Director and Inspector-General of the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA).
In a social media post sighted by Pretertiary.com, NaSIA said Ms Ayisha Gomda and Mr Felix Amegah are the new Deputy Inspector-General of Schools (D-IGS) in charge of General Services and Deputy Inspector-General of Schools (D-IGS) respectively.
Profile of Prof Azeko Salifu Tahiru
As a scholar in Materials Science and Engineering with a speciality in Structural and Multifunctional Materials, as well as Materials Selection and Design for different applications in the Materials, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering industries, Prof. Azeko, Salifu Tahiru (PhD), completed St Clement Primary School in the Bolgatanga Municipality of Ghana in 1996.
He then attended Mount Sinai Educational Complex also in the Bolgatanga Municipality in 1997 and completed in 2000. Prof Azeko, Salifu Tahiru further attended Navrongo Senior Secondary School (now Navrongo Senior High School) in 2001 and completed in 2003 as a Science Student.
He further attended the University for Development Studies, Navrongo Campus in 2005, where he completed and obtained his Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Actuarial Science in 2009.
He then proceeded to the African University of Science and Technology, Abuja, Nigeria in 2011 and 2015, where he respectively, obtained his Master of Science (MSc.) in Materials Science and Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Materials Science and Engineering. Prof Azeko then had his Postdoctoral Research Studies in the US and France between 2017-2019.
Prof Azeko served as a Lecturer at the Nigerian Turkish Nile University (now the Nile University of Nigeria) for three (3) years between 2013 to 2016. He then proceeded to Kampala International University, Kampala, Uganda, in 2016, where he served as a Lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department.
Prof Azeko worked for nearly four (4) months in Kampala International University and gained employment into the Mechanical Engineering Department of Tamale Technical University in 2016 as a Lecturer.
He was later promoted in 2019 and 2023, respectively, to a Senior Lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department and Associate Professor in Materials Science and Engineering of the Mechanical Engineering Department.
Prof Azeko is a Professional Member of the Ghana Young Academy, Ghana Institution of Engineering (Ghie), Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Ghana, and a Corporate Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Prof. Azeko held several positions at Tamale Technical University, including the Dean of the Faculty of Built and Natural Environment, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering/Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment; Head of Department, Mechanical Engineering; Head of Department, Water, and Environmental Engineering; as well as Head of the Amatrol Laboratory.
He is also an External Examiner in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Ghana Graduate School, External Examiner in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development.
Mr Tahiru is an External Examiner in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University for Development Studies, External Moderator/Examiner for the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET),
Again, Prof Azeko is an External Assessor for the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) as well as a National Short-Term Scholar for Curriculum Development in Industrial Mechanics, Automotive Engineering as well and Agro-Machinery Manufacturing.
Before he was appointed the Inspector-General of Schools of the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA), he was the Dean of the Faculty of Built and Natural Environment at Tamale Technical University, Tamale, Ghana
