2024 BECE and WASSCE results will be released on schedule – MoE
2024 BECE and WASSCE results of candidates who sat for the national and international examinations will be released as scheduled by the West African Examinations Council, the Deputy Minister for Education, John Ntim Fordjour has said.
“As I speak to you now, the government has just released part of the amount owed the WAEC, to enable it to continue with its process of conducting and releasing the final examination results on schedule,” the Education Minister said.
Speaking after monitoring the ongoing WASSCE at the Labone Senior High School, Reverend Ntim Fordjour said that, being aware that WAEC works within a certain timeframe, the government would not do anything that would derail its timetable.
His comment comes after the Ministry of Education (MoE) announced that the central government had released GH¢50 million to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for the conduct of this academic year’s WASSCE and BECE.
In a statement sighted by Pretertiary.com, the Education Ministry said that disbursement reaffirms the government’s commitment to fulfilling its financial obligations to WAEC, ensuring that the Council’s operations continue without interruption.
“The Ministry of Education is pleased to announce the release of Fifty million (GHC 50 million) to the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to support the conduct of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
This disbursement reaffirms the government’s commitment to fulfilling its financial obligations to WAEC, ensuring that the Council’s operations continue without interruption
“We wish to reassure all stakeholders, especially students, parents, guardians, and the general public, of our dedication to sustaining an environment that fosters seamless, efficient, and high-quality education for all Ghanaian students,” it noted.
Commenting on the payment, Ntim Fordjour said that the government would continue to release the needed resources to the not-for-profit organization to run its programmes including releasing the 2024 BECE and WASSCE results.
He stated that payments to WAEC by the government have always been in instalments or in tranches because Examinations Council operations do not come as a single event but as a process that is done at different times within the year.
A total of 460,611 candidates, comprising 247,657 girls and 212,954 boys are writing this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School across 1,003 schools and 1,000 centres nationwide.
