BECE students to verify SHS/TVET choices before placement – MoE
Prospective Junior High School (JHS) students who sat for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) are likely to verify their selected second-cycle school (SHS/TVET) choices before the 2025 computer school placement results are released.
This follows a new feature dubbed ‘Choices Confirmation’ added to the homepage of the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal (https://www.cssps.gov.gh) to be used to check the school placement results.
Checks by Pretertiary.com indicate https://www.cssps.gov.gh/hub/choices-confirmation will be used for the second cycle school choices confirmation process; however, it currently redirects to (https://www.cssps.gov.gh/hub/login), a portal for checking the placement results.
A source close to the Ministry of Education, in a discussion with Pretertiary.com, said the verification process is to ensure accuracy in the students’ choice information before the computer school placement results are released.
“The verification process is to ensure accuracy in students’ choice information before they are placed in their selected second-cycle schools,” the source related to the computerised school selection and placement said.
Asked when the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) Secretariat will release this year’s second cycle school placement results for 2025 BECE students, the source said the date is yet to be decided.
This year, a total of 603,328 candidates, comprising 297,250 males and 306,078 females, from nineteen thousand, five hundred and five (19,505) participating Junior High Schools (JHSs) entered for the school examination.
This includes seventy-two (72 ) candidates with visual impairment, two hundred and thirty-nine (239) with hearing impairment, and one hundred and sixty-one (161) candidates with other test accommodation needs.
The examination was conducted at two thousand, two hundred and thirty-seven (2,237 ) centres across the country. Out of the total number, two thousand, five hundred and twenty-six (2,526) candidates were absent.
The BECE for Private Candidates recorded a total entry figure of one thousand, three hundred and ninety (1,661) candidates. This was made up of eight hundred and fifty-eight (858) males and eight hundred and three (803 ) females.
Fifteen (15) centres, mostly in the regional capitals, were used for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for Private Candidates. Out of the total number of candidates who entered for the examination, fifty-seven (57) were absent.
In other news, Junior High School (JHS) students who sat for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will require their index number and Date of Birth to check their second-cycle school placement.
This year, students will enter their 10-digit BECE index number, followed by the last 2 digits of the year of examination (For example, 100000000025 for the year 2025) and the date of birth used for BECE registration.
“The old interface required students to enter their 10-digit BECE Index number, followed by the last 2 digits of the year of examination and a free access code that they would receive via SMS on their phone number, but the new interface requires different details
For the new interface, students would be required to enter their 10-digit BECE index number, followed by the last 2 digits of the year of examination, and their date of birth (DoB) used for the 2025 BECE registration,” the source said.
