CSSPS Secretariat opens 2024 Heads of SHS/TVI placement portal
The Computerised Schools Selection And Placement System (CSSPS) Secretariat has opened the computer school placement portal (https://hm.cssps.gov.gh) for Heads of Senior High School and Technical Vocational Training institutions (SHS/TVI).
The SHS/TVI portal is a subdomain of the CSSPS portal https://cssps.gov.gh where students who sat for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination can check the government second-cyle school they were placed in.
While the https://hm.cssps.gov.gh/ is live, the CSSPS portal is currently down. The CSSPS Secretariat is expected to open the computer school placement portal before the end of October 2024.
The Secretariat introduced https://hm.cssps.gov.gh for heads of Senior High/Technical Vocational Institutions in 2022 after it deleted https://cssps.org, a portal used to check second-cycle school placement of BECE graduates.
Previously https://cssps.gov.gh/shsheads the new portal (https://hm.cssps.gov.gh) is to enable heads of various government second-cycle schools to check and print the list of BECE graduates placed in their schools for admission.
The homepage of the Heads of Senior High School and Technical Vocational Training Institutions (SHS/TVI) portal has a login section for school heads of public second-cycle institutions to enter their school code and password.
About CSSPS
The CSSPS is the acronym for Computerized School Selection and Placement System. It is an automated merit-based computerized system which has replaced the laborious Manual System of Selection and Placement (MSSP) of qualified BECE candidates into second-cycle (Senior High Schools and Technical/Vocational) institutions in Ghana.
The CSSPS was introduced in 2005 as part of the Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service’s grand plan of programmes and interventions intended to expand access and improve the quality of education through teaching and learning as well as curricular development.
The main purpose for the introduction of the CSSPS is; to improve and enhance efficiency in the school transition process (that is transition from Junior High School to Senior High School); and to increase transparency, fairness and cost-effectiveness.
To be eligible for consideration by the CSSPS process, candidates have to complete specially designed cards and scannable forms for processing by computer software which was specifically and specially developed for the system.
Since 2005, the process of selection and placement into senior high school, secondary technical and vocational school has been computerized.
The main objectives for the introduction of the Computerised Schools Selection And Placement System are to promote efficiency, transparency, fairness, equity and speed in selection and computerised placement
