David Prah ‘resigns’ as the Director-General of Ghana TVET Service

In his resignation letter addressed to President John Dramani Mahama, Mr Prah cited his intention to pursue other career obligations and personal goals as the reason for stepping down as the TVET Service Director-General
“I write to formally inform you of my resignation as Director-General of the Ghana TVET Service effective today, Monday 27th January 2025. Mr President, please, this resignation has become necessary to enable me to pursue other career obligations and personal goals,” he said in the resignation letter.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve, Mr David Prah highlighted the strides made in advancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) education in Ghana over the past few years.
“I am very proud of the work done in pursuit of the TVET transformational agenda. I strongly believe that TVET holds the key in turning the economic fortunes of the teeming youth of this country,” he stated.
His leadership has been instrumental in driving key reforms, championing skills development, and advocating for the transformation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ghana.
Since assuming office, Mr. Prah has worked tirelessly to strengthen TVET institutions, build the capacity of staff, and enhance the image of the Ghana TVET Service.
His commitment to skills training and national development has been evident through various initiatives, including leadership training for Regional TVET Directors, infrastructure upgrades, and strategic collaborations with key stakeholders such as T-TEL, Ho Technical University, and other development partners.
During his tenure, he placed significant emphasis on innovation, inclusion, and the empowerment of youth through TVET, ensuring that technical education remains a priority for national development.
His leadership also saw increased media engagement and public awareness on the importance of TVET, strengthening the sector’s visibility and credibility.
As he moves on to new endeavours, the Ghana TVET Service has extended its heartfelt appreciation to Mr David Prah for his dedication and service.
“His impact on the TVET landscape will continue to inspire efforts toward achieving a more robust and competitive technical education system in Ghana,” the Ghana TVET Service said in a social media post sighted by Pretertiary.com.
Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointed David Prah as the Director-General of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service on August 10, 2024.
He replaced Madam Mawusi Nudekor Awity, who retired in August 2021 and completed her two-year contract in August 2024.
