GES clarify B.Ed university graduates recruitment/hiring confusion
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified the confusion about the ongoing hiring of university graduates with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) certificate which commenced on September 3, 2024 and is expected to end on September 10, 2024.
The Service clarification comes after it on social media announced the hiring of university graduates with Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) certificates but on its recruitment portal tagged the hiring process as B.Ed graduate recruitment.
While many see nothing wrong with the process others are of the view that the use of hiring instead of recruitment is a red flag indicating only B.Ed degree holders are being considered for this year’s university graduates recruitment despite the Director-General of GES, Dr Eric Nkansah saying both degree and diploma holders will be recruited.
But speaking to an official of GES, he said university graduates with other certificates will be recruited when financial clearance is granted by the Ministry of Finance indicating the ongoing B.Ed graduates hiring involves no clearance.
Following the Ministry of Education’s request for the Ministry of Finance to grant the Ghana Education Service financial clearance, he gave assurance that more university graduates would be recruited before the end of December 31, 2024.
The GES official in a discussion with Pretertiary.com said the management of his outfit is working tirelessly to ensure more graduate teachers are recruited into service this year before the end of the recruitment clearance deadline.
He expressed hope that the Ghana Education Service (GES) before December 31, 2024, will recruit public tertiary graduates who have completed national service and sat and passed the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE).
“We hope that we recruit more graduates before the end of December 31, 2024, because our financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance is to ensure that we employ before December 31, 2024,” the GES official stated.
