GES Director give deadline 2024 WASSCE School results will be out

The 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) School results will be released before the end of this year, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr Eric Nkansah has disclosed.
In an interview with JoyNews monitored by Pretertiary.com, the GES official said that the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) had already been in contact with the Ministry of Education regarding the results.
“We are sure the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School results will be released possibly before the year ends,” the GES Director-General told the Accra-based media station.
Dr Eric Nkansah commenting on the delay in the release of the WASSCE School results said WAEC often sets targets for itself, however, unforeseen circumstances sometimes prevent them from meeting those deadlines.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) Director-General assurance follows the central government’s release of GH¢25 million of the outstanding GH¢118 million debt owed to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
In an interview, the Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, Mr John Kapi said his outfit would use the money to pay technicians to repair faulty scanners crucial for marking the 2024 WASSCE for School objective sheets.
The technicians tasked to repair the malfunctioning scanners to mark the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School objective test sheets suspended their services over GH¢25 million owed them by WAEC.
“We needed to repair our scanners because we owe the technicians GH¢25 million and they have withdrawn their services until we make some financial commitments,” the Examinations Council spokesperson said in the interview.
