GES official gives update on 2024 university graduates recruitment
The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr Eric Nkansah says his outfit is awaiting financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to commence this academic year’s recruitment of university graduates.
Dr Nkansah’s update comes after he announced on social media that the Ghana Education Service under the auspices of the Ministry of Education will consider government university graduates for recruitment before the end of 2024.
“We are pressing for financial clearance for university degree holders and diplomates. when we get there, we will follow the same process,” the GES Director-General said in reply to a social media comment sighted by Pretertiary.com
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance’s (MoF) financial clearance for the management of the Ghana Education Service under the Education Ministry to recruit new graduates into service for this year will expire on December 31, 2024.
An official of GES in a discussion with Pretertiary.com said the management of his outfit is working tirelessly to ensure more graduate teachers are recruited into service this year before the end of the recruitment clearance deadline.
He expressed hope that the Ghana Education Service (GES) before December 31, 2024, will recruit public tertiary graduates who have completed national service and sat and passed the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE).
“We hope that we recruit more graduates before the end of December 31, 2024, because our financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance is to ensure that we employ before December 31, 2024,” the GES official stated.
The staff of the Ghana Education Service further advised tertiary institution graduates seeking to be employed in service to pay attention to job announcements put out by GES management in terms of the criteria for recruitment.
Asked when exactly the Ghana Education Service (GES) intends to recruit the government university graduates, the GES official said consultations are ongoing between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education (MoE).
“I cannot give the exact date for the university graduates recruitment but I can confirm that before the end of this academic year, the next batch of teachers recruitment will be tertiary graduates,” the Service official told Pretertiary.com.
In other news, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) through the Ministry of Education (MoE) has given the Ghana Education Service (GES) financial clearance to recruit first-batch degree holders from government Colleges of Education.
In a post sighted by this education blog, the management of the Education Service said the recruitment portal will be open from May 15, 2024, to June 17, 2024, adding that applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered.
