GES interdicts Okadjakrom SHTS teacher over a sex with a student

The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted Mr. Mfo Richard Tibetor, a teacher at Okadjakrom Senior High Technical School in the Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) interdiction of the Okadjakrom Senior High Technical School (SHTS) teacher follows a viral video of him in an act of sexual misconduct with a female student.
In a statement sighted by Pretertiary.com, GES, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, said it finds the conduct unacceptable, unethical, and a clear violation of the professional code of conduct for teachers.
“Hence, Mr. Tibetor has already been interdicted and prohibited from entering the school premises pending further investigations into the matter,” GES said in the statement signed by its Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured parents, guardians, and the members of the general public that the safety and protection of all prospective students remain our topmost priority.
“Any teacher found culpable of acts that compromise the dignity and well-being of students will face the full rigours of the law in accordance with the Ghana Education Service (GES) Code of Conduct
Ghana Education Service (GES) remains committed to ensuring discipline, professionalism, and child protection across all schools in the country,” it said in the statement dated October 2, 2025.
The Okadjakrom Senior High Technical School teacher’s interdiction comes shortly after the Assistant Headmaster of KNUST Senior High School, Mr. Charles Akwasi Aidoo, seen in a viral video fondling the breast of a female student, was interdicted for further investigations into the unfortunate matter.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the statement said Mr Charles Aidoo has been prohibited from entering the school premises while thorough investigations are conducted into the allegations.
The GES in the statement signed by its Public Relations Officer explained that the measure was necessary to maintain a safe environment for students while protecting the institution’s credibility.
Interview monitored by Pretertiary.com, the Public Relations Officer for GES, Daniel Fenyi, said the Assistant Headmaster of Academic has been removed only from his position to avoid compromising the investigation process.
“The Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST SHS has been removed from his position to avoid compromising the investigation process, but he has not been dismissed,” the GES spokesperson said.
In other news, the Executive Director of Africa Education Watch (EduWatch), Mr Kofi Asare, citing the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), has called for the arrest of the KNUST Assistant headmaster, Mr Charles Aidoo, and Okadjakrom Senior High Technical School teacher, Mr. Mfo Richard Tibetor.
In a social media post, he said, “Under the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), sexual exploitation is a criminal offence in Ghana. The recent incidents at KNUST SHS and Okadjakrom SHS fall within this scope.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection says it is working with the Ghana Police Service to ensure the arrest and prosecution of Charles Akwasi Aidoo, the Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST Senior High School, found to be fondling a female student.
“The recent case is the report of the female student at KNUST involving the assistant headmaster. Even though GES has already dismissed him, we are collaborating with the police to ensure his arrest and to bring him before the law,” the Gender and Children Minister, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has said.
