GES lists 2025 prospectus items for SHS 1 ‘day & boarder’ students

The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES), following the October 18, 2025, date for 2025 BECE graduates to report to their various placed second-cycle schools, has listed some general items the first-year ‘Day and Boarding’ students are expected to take along.
In a social media post sighted by Pretertiary.com, GES said the items of the national prospectus are must-haves, adding that all personal items should be embossed or embroidered with the student’s name.
Last year, 2024 BECE graduates entering second-cycle schools as first-year students were required to buy items indicated on their school placement form, but this year, there was no prospectus attached to the 2025 second-cycle school placement and enrolment slip.
General items for Day students
1. Mathematical set and calculator
2. Decent sandals (school-specific – no embellishment)
3. Decent sneakers (black or white)
4. 1 school bag
Items for School
According to the Ghana Education Service (GES), students are required to buy items from any of the following groups
Group Red
1. A pair of hand gloves (Hard)
2. Liquid Soap (5 liters)
3. 1kg washing powder soap
Group Yellow
1. Bleach (small size)
2. Dust pan
3. Long handle broom
4. Scrubbing brush
Group Green
1. Standing Mop and Mop bucket
2. Duster
3. 1 short local broom
General items for Boarding students
1. Hard body suit or Trunk or chop box (Wooden/plastic)
2. Drinking cup, 1 plastic or stainless plate, and a set of cutlery
3. Toiletries (1 deodorant, 1 pack of T-roll, toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, pomade and 2 packs of sanitary pads for girls)
4. Decent sandals (school-specific – no embellishment)
5. A pair of leather slippers (school-specific)
6. Decent sneakers (black or white)
7. 2 pairs of socks (school-specific)
8. 1 pyjamas/sleepwear
9. Underwear (5 pants and 3 vests for girls, 3 boxer shorts or pants and 3 singlets for boys)
10. 1 plastic bucket with cover and pail
11. RSV/NIV Bible/Quran and Hymn Book for Christians (School Specific)
12. Pillow covered with Mackintosh
13. 2 Students’ bedsheets with 2 pillow cases, Plain white
14. 1 Blanket & Sleeping cloth
15. A Pair of Khaki Trousers
16. A Pair of White Trousers (or school-specific), a White dress for ladies
17. 2 White Shirts (1 short sleeve and 1 long sleeve)

This year, a total of 603,328 candidates, comprising 297,250 males and 306,078 females, from nineteen thousand, five hundred and five (19,505) Junior High Schools (JHSs) entered for the school examination.
This includes seventy-two (72 ) candidates with visual impairment, two hundred and thirty-nine (239) with hearing impairment, and one hundred and sixty-one (161) candidates with other test accommodation needs.
The examination was conducted at two thousand, two hundred and thirty-seven (2,237 ) centres across the country. Out of the total number, two thousand, five hundred and twenty-six (2,526) candidates were absent.
The BECE for Private Candidates recorded a total entry figure of one thousand, three hundred and ninety (1,661) candidates. This was made up of eight hundred and fifty-eight (858) males and eight hundred and three (803 ) females.
Fifteen (15) centres, mostly in the regional capitals, were used for the BECE for Private Candidates. Out of the total number of candidates who entered for the examination, fifty-seven (57) were absent.
