GES setup solution centres, helpline for 2024 SHS/TVET placement
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has set up SHS/TVET placement solution centres and helpline as part of efforts to address concerns about this year’s computerised school placement of students who sat for the 2024 BECE.
In a blog post sighted by Pretertiary.com, the Education Service said complaints of the SHS/TVET placement are to be channelled to the national solution centre at GNAT Hall, Adabraka or reach out to the helpline 030 8258001.
The computer school placement solution centres and helpline according to the Ghan Education Service form part of measures to ensure a smooth placement of BECE graduates into various second-cycle schools in the country.
“The public is hereby informed that in addition to the National Solution Centre at the GNAT Hall, Adabraka, Accra and all the 16 Regional Solution Centres, they can call our helpline on 0308258001 for all concerns,” GES said.
It also said that computerised school placement is merit-based, so parents and guardians are cautioned not to pay money to unscrupulous individuals who may approach them for placement into certain public second-cycle schools.
Out of the 563,399 2024 BECE for School and Private results received from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) a total of 553,155 candidates qualified for placement into various public second cycle schools.
A total of 447,698 representing 80.93% of students the Ghana Education Service (GES) indicated have automatically been placed in one of their second-cycle school choices selected during the school selection process.
However, 104,918 qualified candidates could not be matched to any of their choices. Out of this number, 73,390 (13.27%) qualified candidates have been placed in schools similar to those they selected, and such students are at liberty to accept or reject the offer.
The total number of students placed in the various second-cycle schools is 521,088, representing 94.20%. The students who were not placed have been asked to visit the self-placement platform to select a school of their choice
