The central government has appointed Dr. Munawaru Issahaque as the Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), the GES management announced in a social media post sighted by Pretertiary.com.
In a Facebook post, the Service under the auspices of the Ministry of Education (MoE) disclosed that Dr. Munawaru Issahaque is now the Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality and Access at Ghana Education Service.
Dr Munawaru Issahaque takes the role of Deputy Director-General (Quality and Access) of the Ghana Education Service (GES) from Dr Kwabena Bempah Tandoh who held the position for more than six and a half years.
Dr Munawaru Issahaque is the formal Savelugu Municipal Director of Education and is in charge of the implementation of pre-tertiary educational policies of the Government of Ghana at the Municipal level.
He attended the University of Cape Coast for BED Psychology (With Economics) between 2000 to 2003. Fast forward in three years he again attended the University of Cape Coast for a Master of Philosophy from 2006 to 2010.
The newly appointed Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality and Access at Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr Issahaque Munawaru also served as the Headmaster of Salaga T. I Ahmadiyya Senior High School in 2015.
Dr Munawaru Issahaque served as the constituency secretary for Wa East for two consecutive terms and was a key member of the Upper West Regional Communication Team.
He ran for Regional Secretary in 2015, though he did not win. In 2023, he contested the Wa East parliamentary primaries but did not succeed.
Recently, he also filed for the position of Wa East District Chief Executive (DCE), but unfortunately, he did not make it to the final selection of three candidates.
In 2024, Dr Issahaque Munawaru was in the news for graduating with his Zahida Issahaque at the 25th Congregation Ceremony of the University for Development Studies (UDS).
Dr. Munawar Issahaque proudly graduated with a PhD in Social Administration, crowning years of dedication to both his career and studies.
His journey reflects his commitment to his community and his belief in lifelong learning, a path that has now encouraged many around him to reconsider their educational goals.
Dr. Issahaque, who has dedicated his professional life to improving educational outcomes within rural and peri-urban Districts in Ghana, views his latest achievement as a testament to the power of persistence and a desire to contribute meaningfully to his field.
Dr Munawaru Issahaque’s daughter, Zahida Issahaque received her Bachelor of Science degree in Midwifery, a milestone that marks the beginning of her journey into a profession that impacts countless lives daily.
“Seeing my father achieve a PhD challenges me to aim higher and reminds me that there is always room to grow, regardless of the obstacles,” she said adding that “He has shown me that learning doesn’t stop after school. It’s a lifelong journey.”
