KNUST SHS Assistant head fondling student not ‘sacked’ yet – GES

The Assistant Headmaster of KNUST Senior High School, Mr. Charles Akwasi Aidoo, seen in a viral video fondling the breast of a female student, has not been dismissed, the Ghana Education Service has said.
Speaking in an interview monitored by Pretertiary.com, the Public Relations Officer for GES, Daniel Fenyi, said the Assistant Headmaster of Academic has been removed only from his position to avoid compromising the investigation process.
“The Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST SHS has been removed from his position to avoid compromising the investigation process, but he has not been dismissed,” the GES spokesperson said.
In the interview with Accra-based Starr FM, the GES spokesman, Daniel Fenyi, encouraged prospective students to immediately report to authorities if any teacher makes inappropriate advances towards them.
The Head of Public Relations of GES also cautioned that no matter how teachers or teaching staff may perceive students as stubborn, they must never engage them in any sexual or romantic activities.
The Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST SHS, Charles Akwasi Aidoo, was removed from office following the circulation of a video on social media, allegedly showing him in a compromising position with a female student.
In a statement issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES) on September 29, 2025, the school’s management stated that it had acted swiftly to safeguard the integrity of the teaching profession and ensure the welfare of its students.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the statement said Mr Charles Aidoo has been prohibited from entering the school premises while thorough investigations are conducted into the allegations.
The GES in the statement signed by its Public Relations Officer explained that the measure was necessary to maintain a safe environment for students while protecting the institution’s credibility.
The Service assured parents, students, and the general public that due processes would be followed, stressing that appropriate disciplinary action would be taken in line with its code of conduct.
“The GES remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and child protection in all our schools. We strongly condemn any acts that compromise the safety, dignity, and well-being of students,” the statement said.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) further reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of the teaching profession and emphasised that misconduct of any kind would not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, Theophilus Dominic VonDee, has said the KNUST Senior High School Assistant Headmaster didn’t forcefully fondle the student, saying they both agreed.
Speaking in an interview on Adom TV, he stated that the KNUST Senior High School (SHS) student involved in a viral video with her assistant headmaster consented to the act and was not forced into it.
“If you watch the video carefully, sincerely, the man was not forcing the young girl. He didn’t force her; it was more of a consented thing.”
The MP added, “The old man and the young lady agreed to do that, and it must be established. There is no sin… in saying the man forced the young lady. It was a consented thing; both agreed to be in that mood.”
