MoE announces date & venue for 2025 National Education Forum

The Ministry of Education has disclosed that the maiden edition of the National Education Forum (NEF), scheduled for February 18, 2025, to February 20, 2025, will take place at the Volta Serene Hotel, Ho-Volta Region.
In a social media post sighted by Pretertiary.com, the Education Ministry said the theme for the three-day 2025 National Education Forum is Transforming Education for a Sustainable Future.
Professor George K.T. Oduro, Chairman of the National Education Forum Planning Committee, at a press briefing on Tuesday, said Prof. Joseph S.Agbenyega and Prof Kwame Akyeampong will be the Ghanaian Diaspora keynote speakers at the forum.
The National Education Forum Chairperson indicated that the 2025 edition of the forum will be structured along zonal stakeholder engagement and town hall meetings under five thematic areas.
The areas are infrastructure; quality education; regulations, accountability and governance; education financing; and research and data.
Prof. Oduro said the zonal engagement in the Volta and Oti regions would take place on February 19, 2025, in Ho.
Greater Accra and Eastern regions engagement will take place on February 21, in Accra, Western and Central Regions will also have their day on February 21 in Cape Coast.
Bolgatanga will host Upper East and Upper West on February 24, while Sunyani will host Western Nort
Upper West, Savannah and Northern regions engagement will take place on February 25 in Tamale, while the Ashanti region engagement will take place on February 26 in Kumasi.
The committee, chaired by Professor George K.T. Oduro, a former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, at the National Education Forum inauguration ceremony, took the official oath and oath of secrecy.
The members are Professor Goski Alabi, Academic and Entrepreneur, Prof Rosemary Bosu, Senior Lecturer, University of Cape Coast, Dr Samuel Awuku, Education and Development Consultant, and Prof Smile Dzisi.
Others are the former Rector, of Koforidua Technical University, Mr Kofi Asare, Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Mr Stephen Owusu, a renowned Educationist, and Mr Inusah Shiraz, Education Policy Planner.
The committee’s responsibilities include developing a theme and sub-themes to guide discussions and identifying key stakeholders such as students, parents, teachers, researchers, civil society organisations, development partners, religious groups, political parties, chiefs, and educational institutions to feed into the policy.
They are to identify key stakeholders in the education sector, including students, parents, teachers (pre-tertiary and tertiary, including the private sector), researchers, civil society organisations, development partners, religious bodies, political parties, Ghanaian educational researchers in the diaspora, chiefs, heads of educational institutions, Parliamentary Select Committee on Education to be invited as participants.
They would also develop a stakeholder activity agenda with time allocations (for example thematic breakout sessions, and plenaries).
In other news, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has urged members of the general public to submit their input on how the country’s education sector can be improved via an email nef.moe.gov.gh.
In a social media post titled “National Education Forum Calling” the Ministry in Charge of Education said all public inputs or concerns will be submitted to the planning committee of the National Education Forum (NEF).
“Let your voice be heard on education in Ghana. Send your inputs to the National Education Forum Planning Committee via nef@moe.gov.gh,” MoE said in the social media post sighted by Pretertiary.com.
