GTEC petition MoE for financial clearance to recruit 2,500 teachers
The management of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has submitted a request to the Ministry of Education (MoE) for the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to grant the Commission financial clearance to recruit 2,500 teachers.
In a statement sighted by Pretertiary.com, the Tertiary Commission emphasised that this over 2.000 teachers recruitment is intended to alleviate the current academic workload and ensure that academic activities can resume promptly.
The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) management assured that once the financial clearance is received, it will swiftly communicate the recruitment process to ensure the timely deployment of the new staff.
“The Commission is in serious talks with the Honourable Minister of Education for financial clearance to be granted to GTEC to recruit some two thousand five hundred (2500) teaching staff to augment the current load for academic work to commence as quickly as possible while we work with CETAG to resolve their concerns.
GTEC will communicate to you the modalities with which this urgent staff recruitment will be expedited as soon as the clearance is provided,” It said in the statement.
In a related development, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr Eric Nkansah says his outfit is awaiting financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to commence this academic year’s recruitment of university graduates.
Dr Nkansah’s update comes after he announced on social media that the Ghana Education Service under the auspices of the Ministry of Education will consider government university graduates for recruitment before the end of 2024.
“We are pressing for financial clearance for university degree holders and diplomates. when we get there, we will follow the same process,” the GES Director-General said in reply to a social media comment sighted by Pretertiary.com
