MoE warns internet cafe operators over 2025 SHS/TVET placement

The Ministry of Education (MoE), following the release of the computer second-cycle school placement of students who sat for the 2025 BECE, has urged internet cafe operators or attendants to desist from selecting random schools for students.
Speaking to Pretertiary.com, an official of the Education Ministry said internet cafe attendants sometimes contribute to the challenges faced during the second cycle school placement each year.
According to the MoE official, some cafe operators usually select random second-cycle schools, especially for students doing self-placement, to get the time to check the placement of more students for their financial gains.
On the part of students who will be participating in the forthcoming placement exercise, the MoEstaff entreated them not to leave their school selection to an internet cafe attendant or operator in the case of self-placement.
He similarly urged parents and guardians of 2025 BECE graduates who will be taking part in the nationwide computer school placement process to take a keen interest in the selection and placement of their wards to avoid mistakes.
Relatedly, the management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has alerted the public, particularly students and parents, to be careful of individuals who claim to have access to the placement system.
The Education Service has urged students who will be participating in the September 17, 2025, school placement exercise to be vigilant and disregard assertions by some internet cafe operators who claim they can change the placement.
“The activity of some internet cafe operators claiming to have access to the computerized placement system last year came to our notice, we urge parents and students this year to be vigilant during the school checking,” GES stated.
The unscrupulous cafe operators, he said, lure the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates to pay an amount of money for their already placed or selected second-cycle school to be changed to their preferred choice.
The GES indicated that the computerized school placement system (CSSPS) portal https://cssps.gov.gh, as part of measures to ensure smooth placement of all successful 2025 BECE candidates, has been secured and can not be compromised.
“Any person who contacts you to pay any amount of money for your placed or selected school to be changed or claims to have access to the school placement system or websites is a fraudster,” GES has noted.
