NaCCA withdraws Winmat English textbook from market, schools

The management of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) with immediate effect has withdrawn the Winmat English Language textbook or basic 6 students from the market and schools.
In a statement sighted by Pretertiary.com, the Curriculum Council said its monitoring activities have revealed that the Winmat English Language textbook for Basic 6 is unsuitable for learners due to numerous grammatical errors.
“This finding has caused significant concern among stakeholders, including parents and teachers, who fear the negative impact of such content on the quality of education.
This corrective measure is being taken to ensure that all instructional materials provided to learners are of the highest standard, thereby enhancing learning outcomes.
By this circular, the Council is ordering Winmat Publications, the authors of the above-mentioned textbook, to withdraw and recall all such materials from schools and the market with immediate effect,” NaCCA said in the statement.
