NaSIA to distribute teaching, learning resources to all private SHSs

The management of the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA), as part of its mandate to ensure quality standards within the Pre-Tertiary Education sector in Ghan,a is set to distribute teaching and learning resources to all licensed private Senior High Schools across the country.
In a statement sighted by Pretertiary.com, NaSIA said the resources have been received from Transforming Teaching, Education and Learning (T-TEL) to strengthen the quality of teaching and learning in private schools.
According to NaSIA, its unwavering commitment is to ensure that licensed private second-cycle schools are adequately resourced to deliver quality education in line with national standards.
NaSIA said the provision of these learning materials forms part of it’s broader efforts to improve classroom instruction, enhance professional development for teachers, and ensure better learning outcomes for students.
It said the materials will be carried out nationwide adding that all licensed private Senior High Schools are encouraged to liaise with NaSIA’s regional offices for further details on collection and delivery arrangements.
“NaSIA acknowledges the continuous collaboration with partners such as T-TEL, whose contribution go a long way to support both educators and learners in the private education sector,” it said in the statement.
Receiving the resources, the Inspector-General of Schools, Prof. Azeko Salifu Tahiru, was particularly excited that private schools will be adequately resourced to deliver quality education in line with national standards.
He expressed sincere gratitude to T-TEL and other partner agencies who helped make this initiative possible, noting that the provision of these learning materials forms part of NaSIA’s broader efforts to improve classroom instruction, enhance professional development for teachers, and ensure better learning outcomes for students.
In a related development, the Deputy Minister of Education, Dr Clement Apaak, says seventy (70) private second-cycle schools are now open to accept placement of students through the Computerised School Placement System
Speaking at a press conference, the Education Minister said the inclusion of 70 private Senior High Schools (SHSs) under the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme is for a pilot program.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, has highlighted a major expansion in the 2025 SHS placement exercise with the inclusion of 70 private Senior High Schools (SHSs) under the Free SHS pilot program.
Dr Clement Apaak explained that the move aims to provide more opportunities for prospective BECE graduates who may not secure places in oversubscribed public Category A second-cycle schools.
The Minister for Education urged students and parents to take advantage of the self-placement portal to select from second-cycle schools with available vacancies, including the newly added private institutions.
“This year, as part of the Free SHS Programme, we are piloting 70 private SHSs. At the time of school selection, only 21 private schools were available, but I am pleased to inform you that all 70 private schools are now accessible on the portal, providing more opportunities for students. In total, the placement program covers: 724 public SHSs/SHTSs, 233 TVIs, 70 private SHSs under the pilot Free SHS Programme,” he said.
The placement exercise, he said, covers 724 public Senior High Schools and Senior High Technical Schools, 233 Technical and Vocational Institutions (TVIs), and the 70 private Senior High Schools.
