Primetime gives number of Private SHSs to contest in 2025 NSMQ
Nine private Senior High Schools (SHSs) have qualified to participate in the national championship of the 2025 National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ), the producer of the competition, Primetime Limited, has said.
The 9 private Senior High Schools are Bright SHS, Ghana-Lebanon Islamic SHS, Hope College, Lapaz Community SHS, Our Lady of Grace SHS, Regentrofen SHS, Sonrise Christian High School, St Andrews SHS, and Wallahs Academy.
Private Senior High Schools in 2023, for the first time, were featured in the National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) when Primetime Limited marked the 30th edition of the science and mathematics competition.
The non-public second-cycle schools’ inclusion in the competition comes after a spokesman for Bright Senior High School at Akyem-Kukurantumi, Dr. Isaac Asare, called on NSMQ organizers to consider private schools for the contest.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Isaac Asare was of the view that private Senior High School (SHS) students should also be allowed to be part of the competition to help boost their morale in the choice of their academic preference.
“We thought it wise to sponsor it this year because we have keenly been following it for a long time and it is our hope that private schools will get the opportunity to join in the competition to show off what we got,” he told journalists.
