Seeded Senior High Schools for the 2024 NSMQ increased from 27

Thirty-one (31) seeded Senior High Schools will participate in the National Championship of this academic year’s National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ), Primetime Limited, the competition producer, has said.
Previously, 27 Senior High Schools were seeded to compete in the Science and Maths Quiz but in a social media post sighted by Pretertiary.com, Primetime said “The National Championship of NSMQ 2024 will feature 31 seeded schools.”
Describing the newly added Senior High Schools as wild card entrants, the NSMQ organizer said as non-seeded Regional/Zonal champions, the four added second cycle schools will begin their journey from the One-eight stage.
Slated for October this year, the preliminary stage will be held on October 14 to 17, one-eight on October 19 to 21, the quarter-final on October 23 to 25, the semi-final on October 27 and the grand finale on October 30, 2024.
The launch of the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) and the balloting for the preliminary stage will take place at the New Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Hall on October 1, 2024, at 3 PM.
The preliminary and eighth stages will take place at the Centre for National Culture (CNC), UCC Auditorium 900, and School of Graduate Studies (SGS) Auditorium, where all participating schools will gather for the intellectual showdown.
The 2024 edition of the National Championship of the National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) will feature private Senior High Schools poised to surprise their counterparts from the public schools.
Eight private second-cycle schools are participating in this year’s Science and Mathematics quiz competition, with some of them appearing at the National Championship for the first time since its inception.
The eight private schools in this year’s competition are; Regentropfen SHS (Upper East Region), Hope College (Central Region), St. Andrews SHS (Central Region), Wallahs Academy (Volta Region), Sonrise Christian High School (Volta Region), Bright SHS (Eastern Region), Our Lady of Grace SHS (Ashanti Region) and Ghana-Lebanon Islamic SHS (Greater Accra Region).
