90% of SHS/TVET placement issues of BECE students solved – MoE

About 90 per cent of complaints reported to the resolution centre set up by the Ministry of Education to address challenges of 2024 BECE students who have issues with their second-cycle school placement has been resolved.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the Deputy Coordinator of Free SHS Secretariat, Nana Afrah Sika Mensah said the placement issues solved included placing candidates who were earlier not placed in school and change of school.
In her interview with the newspaper at the National Resolution Centre set up at the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Hall in Accra, she also mentioned gender issue, non-placement and residential status as issues been worked on.
The Free Senior High School official said the computer placement exercise at the resolution centre had so far been smooth and commended the cooperation of parents and candidates to get their problems addressed.
“So, I think, so far so good. The exercise has been good. The total number of issues that were brought we have solved like 90% of them,” she emphasized, adding that apart from the team at the centre, there were other staff members at the secretariat that was working to address whatever issue that was brought to it.
Over the weekend, for instance, she more of the problems brought to their attention was resolved and that “we make sure that all issues brought here will be addressed accordingly.”
The Ghana Education Service (GES) under the auspices of the Ministry of Education late October released the second cycle school placement of students who sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The total number of Junior High School (JHS) students placed in schools is 521,088, representing 94.20% The students who were not placed must visit the self-placement platform to select a school of their choice.”
The Education Service has urged BECE graduates to visit https://www.cssps.gov.gh and Enter the ten-digit index number and add 24 as the year of completion (E.g., 123456789024) to check their school placement.
