WAEC gives 1 condition to release 2024 WASSCE for School results

The management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has given a condition to release the much-awaited WASSCE for School results of students who sat for the 2024 edition of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

WAEC, despite scheduling between December 9 to 15, 2024 to release the 2024 WASSCE for School results, says the examination’s outcome will be out as soon as the challenges being experienced with the post-examination activities are resolved.

The challenges confronting the post-examination activities, the West African Examinations Council said include the breakdown of scanners for scanning the objective cards or sheets of the students who wrote the 2024 WASSCE.

The non-profit-making organization indicated that the scanning of the objective cards which was scheduled for November 1 to November 30, 2024, is yet to be completed due to the breakdown of scanners used for the process.

Amid the challenges, WAEC said it is awaiting the release of additional funds from the outstanding balance of GH¢118,000,000.00 from the Ministry of Education to repair the scanners, enabling the scanning process and other post-examination processes to continue smoothly.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) therefore has urged members of the public particularly students who sat for the examination to ignore information circulating on social media purporting to be dates for the release of the 2024 WASSCE for School results.

“The results will be released as soon as the challenges being experienced with the post-examination activities are resolved,” WAEC said in the statement signed by its Head of Public Relations, John Kapi, sighted by Pretertiary.com.

The management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), on August 5, 2024, commenced the administration of the 2024 edition of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.

The WASSCE for School successfully ended on Friday, September 20, 2024. The marking of the essays and other practical components of the papers which commenced on Friday, November 7 ended on Friday, November 29, 2024.

A total of 460,611 candidates made up of 212,954 boys and 247,657 girls, presented by 1,003 second-cycle schools registered for the examination. The 2024 WASSCE for School was administrated at 1,000 centres across the country.

In all, 65 subjects were taken by candidates, but each candidate took an average of eight subjects.

The Council, ahead of the conduct of the WASSCE for School held stakeholder engagements across the country with the view to appealing to all and sundry to join in the fight against examination malpractices.

In addition, examination candidates were sensitised on the rules governing the conduct of the examination and reminded of the repercussions of violating any of the provisions of the rules.
