WAEC introduces a malpractice portal for 2024 WASSCE for School

The management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has introduced an examination malpractice portal (https://waecinternational.org/complaints) for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates.
The malpractice portal according to WAEC will allow candidates whose WASSCE for School results will be withheld this year to view the reason(s) and to make a representation for the Examinations Council’s consideration.
“This module allows candidates whose results are withheld in WASSCE FOR SCHOOL CANDIDATES 2024 to view the reason(s) and to make a representation for the Council’s consideration
All Candidates with notice(s) of examination malpractice should check the portal four (4) weeks after the release of results for any update(s) on the notice(s) for submission of their representations as required,” a notice on the portal reads.
A WAEC spokeswoman in an interview said candidates with their WASSCE for School results being withheld can use the examination malpractice portal https://waecinternational.org/complaints to get them released faster than usual.
“That is why the council also came up with a portal for candidates or schools who want to prove their innocence to lodge their complaints for speedy attention by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC)
This is also a way of fair hearing from the affected candidates or schools- to give them the opportunity to defend themselves.
So, candidates can go to the portal using the link earlier given and supply their details. By that, they will be able to know the exact offence they committed and warrant the seizure of their results.
Candidates or schools at that point can request for their papers in question and prove their innocence with evidence of case or cases reported against them,” Nigeria’s WAEC spokesperson, Mrs Moyosola Adesina said in the interview.
In a discussion with Nigerian Tribune, the not-for-profit-making Public Relations Officer said the West African Examinations Council as an organisation doesn’t delay investigations into reported cases of malpractice in all its exams.
She said WAEC knows the importance of candidates’ results and the essence of time concerning their admission into tertiary thus her outfit will have to investigate all the cases one after the other through a committee system.
The committee will review all the cases thoroughly and release results of those whose cases can be easily resolved and other much later and all within a time frame.
“Sometimes, exam malpractice may involve one or multiple candidates or the entire school for a particular subject or multiple subjects
Also, people should know that exam malpractice that escaped undetected in the exam halls will be detected during the marking of scripts when you discover that candidates must have, for example, copied themselves to write their answers word for word,” Mrs Moyosola Adesina said.
It is currently unclear if the malpractice portal can be used by candidates from all member countries of the West African Examinations Council (WASSCE) to file complaints about their withheld WASSCE for School results.
