WAEC invites results withheld 2024 WASSCE PC students for probe

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is inviting students who took part in the first and second series of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates (WASSCE PC) and had their results withheld for investigation.
In a blog post sighted by Pretertiary.com, the not-for-profit-making organisation (WAEC) said the invitation of the affected students is due to alleged involvement in examination irregularities in the just-ended WASSCE for Private.
Such students, the Council said, are to visit the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Regional Offices where they wrote the examination. It said assigned dates have been indicated by their names on its website.
“Candidates, who took part in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) For Private Candidates, 2024 (first and second series) and had their results withheld due to alleged involvement in examination irregularities are kindly invited to the WAEC Regional Offices where they wrote the examination on the assigned dates indicated by their names,” it stated.
The invitation, the management of WAEC says, is to assist the Examinations Council to conclude its investigations into the alleged irregularities, adding that students who refuse to honour the invitation do so at their own peril.
“The invitation is to assist the Council to conclude its investigations into the alleged irregularities. Candidates are hereby informed that their refusal to honor this invitation shall not preclude the council from making a final determination on the cases,” WAEC said.
For the first series of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates (WASSCE PC), a total of 5 students are expected to assist the Council in the investigations into the examination irregularities.
For the second series of 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates (WASSCE PC), about 50 students are expected to assist the Council in the investigations into the examination irregularities.
