We’re going to use 5 sets of data for SHS/TVET placement – CSSPS

The Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) Secretariat says it will use five sets of data for the placement of 2024 BECE graduates into various government second-cycle schools across the country.
The sets of data, National Coordinator for the CSSPS, Mark Sasu Mensah in an interview monitored by Pretertiary.com, said the data are the school register, master file or bio file, choice file, vacancy file and results file.
He said his outfit has received the data of 569,236 students, comprising 282,703 males and 286,533 females from 19,505 Junior High Schools who sat for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Asked if the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) has encountered any challenges as indicated in a purported statement, the CSSPS official said the second-cycle school placement system is working fine.
He debunked the claim that the Computerized School Selection and Placement System has recorded few mistakes by 2024 Junior High School graduates in the government’s second-cycle school selection procedures.
The CSSPS National Coordinator urged members of the public to disregard information that, out of the total number of over 569,000 BECE results received from WAEC, 451,797 candidates qualified to be placed.
The National Coordinator speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show said the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) policy has promoted equitable second-cycle school distribution.
He emphasized that the system’s mandate is to ensure that qualified Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates are appropriately placed in various second-cycle institutions across the country.
The CSSPS official highlighted the advantages of the computerized placement system, noting that it allows individuals to select schools from Ghana, significant from the manual selection process of previous years.
Mark Sasu further explained that the CSSPS policy aims to assist vulnerable members of society and increase access to educational opportunities for those who may have previously struggled to secure admission.
Citing the benefits of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System, he said it has brought added value to education and has positively influenced the implementation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
