We’re working to release 2024 WASSCE results by Dec end – WAEC
The management of the West African Examinations Council is working round the clock to ensure the release of the 2024 WASSCE results by the end of December 2024, a spokesman for WAEC, Mr John Kapi has disclosed.
In a statement copied to by Pretertiary.com, the Council urged the Ministry of Education to release the outstanding balance to enable it to pay Supervisors, Invigilators, script checkers, and suppliers of examination materials.
“The Council is appealing to the Ministry of Education to release the outstanding balance to enable it pay Supervisors, Invigilators, script checkers, suppliers of examination materials and also meet other financial obligations.
The Council wishes all its stakeholders the Best of the Season and assures them of its commitment to the execution of its mandate despite the challenges,” WAEC said in the statement signed by its Public Relation Officer, John Kapi.
The final WASSCE results release date follows the release of GHC 35,000,000.00 from the Ministry of Education to WAEC to enable it to complete the scanning of the objective answer cards and conclude the processing of the results
“The West African Examinations Council wishes to inform its stakeholders that on December 25, 2024, it received a cheque for an additional amount of GHC 35,000,000.00 from the Ministry of Education to enable it to complete the scanning of the objective answer cards and conclude the processing of results for the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2024.
Consequently, the Council is working round the clock to ensure the results are released by the end of the month,” the not-for-profit-making organization (WAEC) disclosed in the statement dated December 27, 2024.
In a related development, the Association of Vice Chancellors Ghana following this year’s WASSCE results delay says the worrying situation could significantly disrupt the academic calendar of tertiary institutions including universities in the country.
The Executive Secretary of the Association, Dr Kpeglo-Freiku in an interview with Joy FM monitored by Pretertiary.com said the situation could severely impact universities, students, and their families if the outstanding financial issues with the West African Examinations Council are not resolved for the results be released promptly.
“Most universities had planned to welcome first-year students by the second or third week of January,” the Association of Vice Chancellors Ghana Executive Secretary Dr. Keglo-Freiku told the Accra-based radio station.
