ZaKariah Sulemana replaces Fred Kyei Asamoah as new CTVET DG

The central government has appointed Mr ZaKariah Sulemana as the new Director-General of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET).
Mr ZaKariah Sulemana replaces Dr Fred Kyei Asamoah who was appointed as the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) Director-General in 2017 and also re-appointed in 2021.
At the staff durbar held on February 28, 2025, by CTVET Mr. Sulemana reiterated that President John Dramani Mahama has set a Reset Agenda for the country, and urged all staff to work diligently towards achieving this vision so that we can collectively build the Ghana we want.
The newly appointed Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) Director-General emphasized the importance of excellence, accountability, and diligence in every aspect of the Commission’s work.
ZaKariah Sulemana further reminded staff to always be guided by CTVET’s mandate as outlined in Act 1023, as well as the strategic plan of the Commission, which will serve as a roadmap for all activities moving forward.
The staff durbar was to formally introduce the newly appointed Director-General, Mr ZaKariah Sulemana, and Deputy Director-General, Mr Kwame Zu to staff members.
In a related development, Mr Kwame Zu has been appointed as the Deputy Director-General of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET).
Before joining the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training(CTVET) as its Deputy Director-General, Kwame Zu was a Senior Lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University.
He joined the Kumasi Technical University in June 2011 as Lecturer and rose to the rank of Senior Lecturer. He was the Head of the Department of Agropreneurship at the Kumasi Technical University from August 2014 to September 2016.
He has served on several boards and committees of the Kumasi Technical University. He obtained a BSc in Agriculture degree from the University of Ghana in 2007.
Zu subsequently read a Master’s programme in the Department of Crop Science of the University of Ghana and was awarded an MPhil Postharvest Technology degree in 2010.
Kwame Zu is currently pursuing a PhD. Postharvest Technology programme at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST).
