How to register for Nov/Dec 2026/27 WASSCE for Private online
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has opened registration for the first series of the 2026 WASSCE for Private candidates. In this blog post, we will show you how to register for the private examination.
The management of the not-for-profit-making organisation (WAEC) commenced the first series of the WASSCE for Private registration on December 1, 2025, and concluded it on December 31, 2025.
According to the Examinations Council, the first series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private will be conducted from January 23, 2026, to February 14, 2026.
“The examination is scheduled to start on 16th January and end on 14th February, 2026. The Timetable may be accessed by downloading it from the registration interface. Candidates are advised to study the Timetable carefully in order to avoid a clash of subjects,” the West African Exams Council stated.
WAEC said candidates sitting for six or more subjects will pay GHC856.96, those sitting for five subjects will pay GHC810.00, and candidates sitting for four subjects will pay GHC760.20.
The Council also said candidates sitting for three subjects will pay GHC703.72, those sitting for two subjects will pay GHC670.12, and candidates sitting for one subject will pay GHC635.74.
“You are required to select the subjects you wish to register for the examination. Please note that you are allowed a maximum of four core subjects and four elective subjects,” the Council noted.
For additional charges, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) candidates who take the Practical / Project / ICT component will pay GHC92.00 and GHC88.00 for the Oral English Test.
“Candidates offering subjects that include practical or project work, as well as those taking English Language, will pay the applicable additional fees,” the Examinations Council stated in the blog post.
How to register for WASSCE for Private
1. Visit the Nov/Dec registration portal
2. Fill in the required security information data (i.e. password, security question, etc)
3. Fill in your personal information.
4. Upload your picture.
5. Upload your signature.
6. Fill in your personal information.
7. Select the Region and the Centre where you wish to take the examination.
8. Select the subject (s) you intend to write about.
9. Print your voucher and send it to any of the banks
10. Pay the appropriate fees at the bank or by Visa card ONLINE.
11. You will use your Invoice Number to access your Index Number and Admission Notice from mid-January 2026.
Directions for WASSCE for Private candidates
1. You are expected to be seated 30 minutes before the start of a paper. Candidates who report after work has started would not be admitted into the examination hall.
2. If you arrive after the start of the paper, you will not be allowed to write the examination. A candidate is deemed to be late after the Supervisor has issued the order to start work.
3. Note that you will be required to go through biometric verification (identification of candidates by their fingerprints).
4. Read very carefully the general directions given on the front cover page of the question paper. You will not gain extra marks if you answer more than the number of questions you are required to answer. Much time may be wasted in writing down information not asked for.
5. Candidates offering Art or Geometrical/Building/Mechanical Drawing or Typewriting must bring their own drawing boards or drawing instruments or typewriter to the examination hall.
6. If you decide to leave the examination room before the end of the period allotted to the paper, you must not take your question paper away with you; you must hand it over with your script to the Supervisor. You may, however, return at the end of the test to collect your question paper.
7. As soon as you are told that time is up, ensure that your answer booklet has your full name and index number written on it. Wait until your script has been collected before you leave the examination hall.
8. Candidates whose examination results have been cancelled for resorting to dishonest means
may be refused re-entry to future examinations.
9. Candidates must ensure that there are no marks or inscriptions on their Admission Notices.
10. It is the responsibility of candidates to check inside, under and around their desks for notes, books, pieces of paper or any foreign materials and hand them over to the Supervisor/ Invigilation before sitting at their desks to write a paper.
How to check WASSCE for Private results
1. Visit the WASSCE results portal
2. Enter your Index Number.
3. Select the Type of Examination (e.g., WASSCE).
4. Select your Examination Year (eg, 2025).
5. Enter the Serial Number found on the Voucher.
6. Enter the 12-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Voucher, eg, 012345678912.
7. Confirm your Index Number and Examination Year. This is to ensure that your examination information is correct.
8. Click on Submit and wait for the display in the pop-up window. This may take several minutes.
