WAEC releases 2025 WASSCE for school candidates results online
The management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional 2025 WASSCE for School Candidates results of prospective students who sat for the Ghana version of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
WAEC said the 2025 WASSCE for School results were approved for release at the 40th Meeting of the Ghana Examinations Committee following the completion of investigations into some of the cases of irregularity reported during the examination’s conduct.
In a press statement sighted by Pretertiary.com, WAEC said the provisional 2025 WASSCE for School Candidates results have been hosted on its official website, https://waecgh.org, for candidates to check their results.
The management of the not-for-profit organisation (WAEC) further indicated that it will provide logins to school heads to enable them to access the candidates’ West African Senior School Certificate Examination results.
“The Council would like to caution stakeholders to be wary of fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee. Candidates are to note that WAEC results are secured and can be authenticated using its results verification system. The WAEC QR code can be downloaded and used to verify results,” WAEC said in the statement.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) said it cancelled the subject results of 6,295 candidates and the entire results of 653 candidates for cheating in the 2025 WASSCE for School Candidates.
In addition, WAEC said it has withheld subject results for 908 candidates, entire results for 158 candidates, and that subject results from 185 schools are still under investigation for alleged collusion.
The West African Examinations Council disclosed that 35 people, including 19 teachers, were caught engaging in acts that compromised the integrity of the exams, and 19 have already been convicted in court.
The results for the 2025 WASSCE show a sharp decline in student performance in Core Mathematics and Social Studies. Only 48.73% of candidates obtained A1–C6 in Mathematics, down from 66.86% in 2024.
Performance in Social Studies also dropped significantly to 55.82%, compared to 71.53% last year. English and Integrated Science recorded slight declines but remained relatively stable.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) warned the public against WASSCE for School result-upgrading scammers, stressing that all results can be verified through its authentication system.
A total of 461,736 candidates registered for the examination from 1,021 schools, including 254,321 females and 207,415 males, marking a continued gender shift in enrolment. Of these, 5,821 candidates, representing 1.26%, were absent from the examination.
The withheld results of these candidates may be released or cancelled depending on the outcome of investigations,” the West African Examinations Council said in the statement signed by its Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi.
How to check your WASSCE for School result
1. Visit the WASSCE result-checking portal
2. Enter your Index Number
3. Select the Type of Examination (e.g. WASSCE).
4. Select your Examination Year (eg, 2025)
5. Enter the Serial Number found on the Result Checker Card
6. Enter the 12-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Result Checker Card (eg, 012345678912).
7. Confirm your Index Number and Examination Year. This is to ensure that your examination information is correct.
8. Click on Submit and wait for the display in the pop-up window. This may take several minutes.
