GES releases 2026/2027 academic calendar for basic schools

The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the official 2026/2027 academic calendar for all public basic schools, including kindergarten, primary and junior high schools in the country,

The basic schools’ academic calendar was contained in a circular dated May 6, 2026, and signed by the Deputy Director-General of GES, Prof. Smile Dzisi, on behalf of the Director-General.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed regional directors to circulate the calendar to all heads of basic schools through the metropolitan, municipal and district education directorates.

The Education Service also reminded schools that public holidays within the academic year must be observed. A two-day mid-term break will also be observed in each term.
